Chelsea legend John Terry has told Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane that it’s time to join a ‘bigger and better club’.

The Three Lions skipper has spent his entire professional career in north London, becoming one of the most prolific goalscorers in Premier League history in the process with 261 goals in 408 appearances.

Despite that incredible stat line, the 29-year-old is still to win a trophy with Spurs.

Kane has lost two League Cup finals in 2015 and 2021, while he also returned from injury to lose to Liverpool in the 2019 Champions League final under Mauricio Pochettino.

Terry, meanwhile, won 15 major trophies at Stamford Bridge. And he has urged Kane to leave if he genuinely wants to end his trophy drought.

Speaking on beIN SPORTS, Terry said: “I think Harry Kane has got ambitions to go and win trophies – he’s clearly not going to do that at Tottenham is he? Let’s be honest. He’s not, clearly. Let’s be honest with ourselves.

“He’s one of the best strikers in the world. He wants to win trophies. He wants to play for the best and biggest teams.

“Spurs are not that, Spurs are not going to give him what he wants. He wants to finish his career with some trophies.”

Asked if Kane could join a club of the stature of Real Madrid, Terry added: “I could see it.”

Chelsea themselves have been urged to make a move for Kane, as improbable as that might seem.

England skipper looking for goals against USA

Kane is set to start England’s second group game at the World Cup in Qatar after overcoming an ankle injury.

Despite not scoring in the 6-2 win over Iran, the Tottenham man did have two assists and will be looking to get on the score sheet against USA on Friday night.

Speaking after the impressive Iran win, Kane said: “To go far in any major tournament you need goals, from not just from your main striker, but from all over the place,’ said Kane.

“We started the game really well, the boys who have come on have done fantastic.

“It will give everyone confidence. Everyone, whenever you score or get an assist, it lifts their spirits. And we’re going to need everyone to do well in this tournament.”

With the World Cup ongoing, Tottenham are not back in action until Boxing Day when they head to Brentford.
