There is growing uncertainty at Tottenham Hotspur surrounding Bayern Munich’s interest in striker Harry Kane, claims a report.

The transfer talk surrounding Kane was over the summer was kept at a premium. The previous summer had seen Kane openly push for a move to Manchester City. That never materialised as City refused to meet Spurs’ price tag with Kane eventually stating his plan to stay in north London.

His statement did say “I will be staying at Tottenham this summer”. And so speculation on his long-term future was expected to ramp up this time around. That really did not happen, although Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann did fuel the fire early in the window.

The German coach acknowledged the price tag on the prolific England man would be an issue.

“He’s very expensive that’s the problem,” said the Bayern boss – comments which had Antonio Conte fuming.

Publicly the Bundesliga champions have maintained they have no interest in the player.

“I haven’t spoken to anyone at Harry Kane’s camp,” sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic recently told Sport1.

The truth though is understood to be different with Bayern plotting a sensational move for Kane to replace Robert Lewandowski. And according to 90min “Tottenham are becoming worried by Bayern’s advances”.

Bayern are understood to have stepped up their efforts behind the scenes. And Kane “is giving thought to such a move”.

The 29-year-old is under contract until 2024 and a both parties are open to a contract renewal. However, as yet those talks have not taken place. And they are unlikely to do so now until after the World Cup.

Kane contract talks

That effectively means an earliest date of January 2023 for talks over his future – when Kane will be entering the final 18 months of his deal.

Kane has had a good start to the season under Conte. And the Italian coach is desperate to see Kane commit to a new long-term deal.

Asked last month if now was the time to sign a new deal, Conte said: “Yeah, the perfect time but you know very well that you create the perfect time with a project.

“There is a vision. There is a direction and there is a unity to try to improve the team to be the team at the level of his expectations.”

Traditionally a slow starter in August, Kane has scored six goals in seven Premier League games to fire Spurs into third place.

Bayern meanwhile are winless in four games and lost 1-0 to Augsburg at the weekend as the pressure cranked up on Nagelsmann.
