Harry Kane has once again been urged to leave Tottenham if he wants to win trophies, though this time he has been told to reject Manchester United and instead sign for a huge European club.

Kane is thought to be on Erik ten Hag’s radar as he looks for a new striker to lead his forward line. Of course, Man Utd did bring in Wout Weghorst earlier this month, but he has only arrived at Old Trafford on loan.

Kane would be a phenomenal signing for Man Utd. He guarantees at least 20-25 goals each season and is also great at assisting his team-mates. He has Champions League experience and is England captain, too.

Paul Merson has urged Man Utd to raid Tottenham for the goalscorer on a few occasions. On Tuesday, the pundit told them to spend a whopping £100million on him. This would make Kane their record signing, ahead of the big-money deals for Paul Pogba, Antony and Harry Maguire.

Despite Man Utd liking Kane, he might not end up joining them in the summer. On Monday, The Athletic journalist David Ornstein revealed Kane is now open to extending his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. His current deal expires in summer 2024.

The player, who is on 18 goals already this term, has since broken his silence on the contract renewal rumours. While he says there have not been any talks just yet, he expects discussions to commence in the coming months.

However, former striker Tam McManus has warned Kane against extending his spell with Spurs. He reckons the 29-year-old should leave England altogether and sign for Real Madrid, as he would ‘score for fun’ in La Liga.

“He has to definitely leave if he wants to win things, it’s that simple,” the pundit said in an interview with Football Insider.

Striker should go to Spain – pundit

“What is the best Tottenham can do this season? They are still in the FA Cup and they might get into the top four, though I think that’s unlikely.

“Maybe Real Madrid is the move. [Karim] Benzema is fantastic but he isn’t getting any younger and Kane would score for fun over there.

“It’s essentially a guarantee of trophies as well so that has to be something that appeals to him.

“The manager looks like he is leaving and the club are miles away from winning anything, let’s be honest. They have no chance of keeping him if [Antonio] Conte goes.

“If I was Kane I would be looking for the exit door, 100 per cent.”

Few would blame Kane if he rejected proposals from both Spurs and Man Utd and went to Real. After all, they are one of the biggest clubs in the world and are the reigning Champions League holders.

By joining Carlo Ancelotti’s side, Kane would go from not winning any silverware in his whole career to potentially winning one or two trophies per season.

The one thing that may stop him from going to Spain is the all-time Premier League scoring record. That is currently held by Alan Shearer (260 goals), and Kane needs 61 more strikes to match it.

If Kane went to Real, he would relinquish the chance to smash Shearer’s tally. This could work in Spurs’ favour amid their contract negotiations, though Man Utd will definitely be lurking.

Meanwhile, Wednesday’s Euro Paper Talk claims Man Utd are leading the chase for a Real Betis star.
