Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said today that Harry Maguire could be ‘out for a few weeks’ with a calf injury and he fears Luke Shaw could also miss Manchester United’s Champions League clash with Villarreal on Wednesday.

It means United could be without three of their first-choice defenders for the game at Old Trafford as Aaron Wan-Bissaka is suspended following his red card in the shock 2-1 defeat by Young Boys.

Maguire and Shaw were both forced off after suffering leg injuries in Saturday's 1-0 home loss to Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Both sat out training on Tuesday morning before Solskjaer gave an update on their situation.

The United manager said: “Luke has been in today, so I’ll give him a chance to be involved tomorrow. He didn’t train with the team.

“Harry is more or less definitely out. It’s his calf. That might take a few weeks.”

Forward Marcus Rashford trained away from the main group, as he continues his recovery from a shoulder injury, along with winger Amad Diallo who has a thigh injury.

Wednesday night’s Group F clash is a repeat of last season's Europa League Final, which the Spanish club won 11-10 on penalties.
