Harry Redknapp and Chris Sutton agree on Liverpool vs Aston Villa prediction and star man
Liverpool will remain top of the Premier League going into the last international break of the year if they win at home to Aston Villa on Saturday night. Defending champions Manchester City, who are two points off the Reds in second, head to Brighton & Hove Albion earlier on in the evening.
Should they end their three-match losing streak with a victory, they would leapfrog Liverpool at the summit. However, Arne Slot's in-form know they will still be top come 10pm no matter the scoreline at the Amex providing they beat Villa.
Villa, like City, are having a tough time of it, having also lost three on the run in all competitions and having been displaced at the top of the Champions League group stage by the Reds after they lost 1-0 at Club Brugge in bizarre circumstances and saw their opponents this weekend power past Bayer Leverkusen 4-0 at Anfield.

But who will come out on top in the eagerly anticipated English top-flight clash between the teams? Well, pundits Harry Redknapp and Chris Sutton are in agreement.
Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Redknapp, speaking exclusively to BetVictor, has backed Liverpool to follow their wins over Brighton & Hove Albion and Leverkusen with a a 3-1 triumph.
Redknapp said: "Wow, what a game on Saturday night. Liverpool keep winning and getting the job done under Arne Slot, I’ve been very impressed. They were superb against Bayer Leverkusen the other day, they’ll come into this one in a great frame of mind.
"Aston Villa aren’t at their best right now and obviously they arrive at this one fresh off that defeat away to Club Brugge. Speaking of that defeat, that’s one of the strangest penalty decisions I’ve seen, imagine losing a game because of that!
"I just think Liverpool will have too much quality. Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, these guys are all in very good form."
Redknapp picked out the irrepressible Salah as his player to watch while the Egyptian King is also namechecked by Sutton in his predictions column for BBC Sport.
The former Blackburn Rovers striker, a member of the Kenny Dalglish squad that won the title in 1995, lifting the trophy famously at Anfield, is also tipping the Reds to emerge triumphant.
Going for a 2-0 Liverpool win, Sutton said: "It was such a lethargic performance by Aston Villa against Club Brugge on Wednesday. I was expecting far more from them.
"Villa will need much more intensity if they are going to compete at Anfield, but the form Arne Slot's side are in means I cannot see past a home win for this one.
"There is a lot of speculation about Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool, but what isn’t in doubt is his quality and he showed it again with his finish against Brighton last week."
