HARTLEPOOL United have captured 19-year-old attacking midfielder Issac Fletcher on loan from Middlesbrough until the end of the season.

The youngsters becomes Pools third signing of the January transfer window after the additions of Marcus Carver and Jake Hull.

Fletcher is yet to make a senior appearance for Boro but signed his first professional deal for the club in November 2020. He has featured for the Under-23’s side playing in eight Premier League 2 games this season scoring three goals.

The teenager played under current Pools boss Graeme Lee at the start of the season with the Under-23’s before going on to take the manager’s job at the Suit Direct Stadium.

The hope is that Fletcher will fill the void left by Matty Daly who was recalled by his parent club Huddersfield Town to allow a loan move to fellow League Two side Bradford City.

Boro manager Chris Wilder said at the start of the January transfer window that he was keen to send his young players out on loan to gain valuable first-team experience and make use of the local links with Pools.

The club are hoping to seal one or two more signings before the weekend's trip to Exeter City in League Two.
