Haseeb Hameed has been impressed by Joe Root’s simplicity while batting. Haseeb Hameed praised England skipper after latter’s yet another magnificent batting show against India in the 3rd Test at Headingley in Leeds. With his 121 runs, Joe Root smacked his 3rd ton in the ongoing India tour of England while also gaining a mammoth lead for his team in the match.

The right-handed batsman Haseeb Hameed made a comeback to England’s Test side after 5 years. Before the ongoing India vs England Test series, Hameed made his Test debut in 2016 against India but could not find a place in the national team post that. At Headingley, the 24-year-old put up a 135-run stand for the opening wicket with Rory Burns while smashing 68 runs.

While speaking to Sky Sports, Hameed lauded Joe Root’s batting in the match. He feels that there is so much to learn from him as a young player. He also said that Root’s consistency while batting shows his hunger to score runs.

“There’s so much you can learn as a young player from Joe Root. He’s of the highest class but for me, what stands out is the simplicity of his game. He plays like he has so much time, he’s so diligent and also the mental side of things, to turn up and perform in every innings shows how hungry he is,” Hameed said.

Joe Root scored 121 runs off 165 balls on Day 2 of India vs England 2nd Test, accounting for 14 fours during his batting. With 3 centuries and 1 fifty in the 5 innings of the 3 Tests so far, the right-handed batsman is the leading run-scorer of the series with 507 runs. With 423-8 on the board in the ongoing Test, England has managed a 345 runs lead against India, moving to a dominating position.

England’s top order comprising Rory Burns (61), Haseeb Hameed (68), and Dawid Malan (70), gave an outstanding start to the team hitting half-centuries. Earlier, England bowlers dismissed Virat Kohli and co. for a total of just 78, with James Anderson and Craig Overton managing 3-wicket hauls. Sam Curran and Ollie Robinson dismissed 2 batsmen each.
