There’s no prizes for guessing what British people talked about most on Facebook this year – it’s what we were all talking about in the real world, too.

Brexit, of course – closely followed by the American election which catapulted Donald Trump to power.

At least in terms of video, things were a bit more cheerful – with Chewbacca Mom so far out in the lead on Facebook Live that it wasn’t even close, with 162 million views.

Facebook’s annual statistics show that the EU referendum drove 16 million conversations – based on people posting about it.

People simply ‘Liking’ or commenting on existing posts were not counted.
