David Haye WILL fight Tony Bellew after injury concerns are dismissed

David Haye is fit to face Tony Bellew this weekend despite reports suggesting an injury could scupper the fight.

The former world heavyweight champion was spotted in Munich on Tuesday amid speculation he had picked up an Achilles problem.

There had been suggestions he was visiting well-respected surgeon Dr Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt to correct the issue in Germany.

However, promoter Eddie Hearn has dismissed the rumours that the 36-year-old could pull the plug on the bout at this stage.

He told Press Association Sport:”If he didn’t fight he couldn’t step in a British ring again.

“The public workouts are (on Wednesday evening). If he wasn’t fighting I’d know. He will be at the workouts and he will be in the ring on Saturday.

“I’d heard about an Achilles (problem) a few weeks back but he was playing football on Soccer AM at the weekend. If you’re that worried about an Achilles injury you’re not playing football, are you?

“It’s known he sometimes goes to Munich for treatment. That’s where he had surgery on his shoulder.”

It was in Munich that Dr Muller-Wohlfahrt operated on Haye’s injured right shoulder in 2013, when, for the second time, he had been forced to withdraw from a fight against Tyson Fury.

The two men came to blows last week at a press conference, had to be separated and have told to ‘behave like adults’ as the fight gets nearer.

He also once withdrew from facing Wladimir Klitschko when he claimed he had suffered a back injury and only returned to boxing after being forced to retire following his surgery four years ago.

Haye was supposed to be taking part in a public work-out at a London nightclub tonight but it is now unlikely if he will be back from Munich in time.

The Londoner and Scouser Bellew have been involved in a bitter ward of words ahead of the Saturday fight at the O2 and Haye has offended Bellew’s supporters by branding them ‘f***ing retards’ before warning Bellew he is risking his life getting into the ring in the first place.
