What Herbie Kane told his Huddersfield Town team-mates after hard-fought Charlton Athletic win
Huddersfield Town midfielder Herbie Kane has urged his side to keep their “momentum going” after extending their unbeaten run in League One to six matches.
The Terriers moved into the play-off places with a 2-1 victory over 10-man Charlton Athletic at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday, with Michael Duff’s side now sitting fifth in the table.
Town head into tomorrow's clash at fourth-from-bottom Leyton Orient having registered 14 points from those last six league games, including four victories and two draws, and Kane highlighted the importance of his side having a strong mentality as they gear up towards a busy time of the season.

“Any game really in this league is important to get three points and win. Every game’s tough, but we can only beat what’s in front of us, and I think it’s six games unbeaten now, so we need to keep that momentum going, and see where it takes us,” Kane told HTTV.
“I think mentality’s massive. We’ve been working on that throughout the season, and I think if you look at the last few performances, we’ve dug in. Maybe previously we might’ve [gone] a goal down or we lost the game, but you can see now that our mentality’s getting stronger, and we’re able to see games out or come from behind.
“It’ll be another tough game (at Leyton Orient), and mentality and our togetherness will help us through this Christmas period. It’s going to be tough, but it’s a challenge for all of us, and one that we’re all looking forward to.”
Matty Pearson gave the Terriers a 13th-minute lead against the Addicks on Saturday, before Matt Godden pegged the hosts back with a penalty shortly after the half-hour mark.
Greg Docherty was then sent off for the visitors soon after, and David Kasumu went on to seal the victory for Town with a 63rd-minute strike.
Reflecting on Saturday’s victory, Kane said: “It was a good game, we stuck by our game plan, and it’s good to win the game, and I think all the lads will be happy with that one.
“We’ve played against a good team, they’ve got some good players, but we stuck together and we knew it was going to be a fight, but we came out on top, and it was a big win for us.
“It was actually harder playing against ten men, because they just sit back, waste time and you saw that today. It was up to us to break them down, and we’ve managed to do that twice. It could’ve been more, but we’ll take the two goals.”
