Horse Racing - Hurricane Fly wins Irish Champion Hurdle

Hurricane Fly eased to the simplest of victories in the Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown to win the race for the third year in a row.

The 1-6 favourite held off stablemate Thousand Stars, with Binocular just behind in third place of the five runners.

"He was very impressive and is back to his very best," said the winning trainer Willie Mullins.

"Our job now is to have him in the same form in seven weeks time at Cheltenham. He took off turning in as if he has just jumped into the race."

Hurricane Fly was instantly cut to as little as 9-4 for the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham in March.
