Horse racing Lucky 15 – Sunday’s top selections

Yahoo Sport UK has teamed up with Bet4Causes to bring you a preview of the day’s British racing – and The Night Hawk marks your card.

Take a look at our Lucky 15 selections (four singles, six doubles, four trebles and a four-fold) for the British and Irish meetings on Sunday, June 19, 2016…

LUCKY 15 SELECTIONS

PUMBLECHOOK (Pontefract 2.40) was third to Wings Of Desire on his debut at Wolverhampton and that form looks particularly solid given the winner’s subsequent victory in the Dante at York and then his fourth in the Epsom Derby to Harzand. While it would not do to take that form too literally, the runner-up, Mahfooz, is also quite well regarded and he was second on his next run at Bath. The fourth home has also won since. So Lucy Wadam’s three-year-old would appear to have a fair chance of getting off the mark on his first turf start in a 1m4f maiden. It is worth noting that Jim Crowley, who saw the selection’s first race, called his agent, Tony Hind, and asked to get on the horse next time. He got his wish, too.

BOWDLER’S MAGIC (Hexham 3.00) won a couple of hurdles at Fakenham (handicap) and Wetherby (novices’) last autumn on soft ground and was not beaten far when runner-up to Tickenwolf at Wetherby on his last run over hurdles off the same mark of 115 he runs off today. David Thompson’s representative has had a couple of encouraging runs on the Flat since and this consistent nine-year-old may well get his head in front in a reasonably competitive 2m4f handicap hurdle.

SIR EDWIN LANDSEER (Gowran Park 2.15) has just had one start, a fine third to stablemates War Decree and Orderofthegarter over seven furlongs at Leopardstown. The winner looked like a Group horse in the making and the selection was unable to pick up at a crucial stage. He was given an easy time of it when beaten and the son of Galileo will no doubt improve for the outing. Aidan O’Brien’s representative is expected to get off the mark the 7f maiden and go on to bigger things.

ONLY FOR LOVE (Worcester 5.20) won his bumper at the third time of asking for Nicky Henderson and followed up at Uttoxeter on her hurdling debut against her own sex, enjoying the step up to 2m4f. The main worry is that she drops back to a 2m trip and basically looks a stayer. The Ground may also be against her, yet her rivals look a very modest bunch and she is open to progress under Freddie Mitchell, who is one of the best conditionals around.
