The red silks with green-striped sleeves of the former Chechen rebel are becoming well known.

For a significant outlay, Kadyrov has bought himself a competitive line-up and a worthy representative at the Dubai World Cup, which is a few days away.

Méandre, trained by André Fabre, is one of the serious outside bets to win over the Dubai World Cup’s mile-and-a-half of sand track.

Kadyrov is placing his trust in the French pairing of Fabre and jockey Maxime Guyon, who know his new acquisition well.
