AP McCoy has been hospitalised after a serious fall at Cheltenham.

The champion jockey fell while riding Quantitativeeasing in the three-mile Barbury International Horse Trials Handicap Hurdle, and left the track on a stretcher with paramedics giving him oxygen.

The BBC reported that 38-year-old McCoy - who will officially be crowned champion jockey for the 18th time on Saturday - suffered a chest injury and will stay in the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital overnight.

He is expected to be discharged on Friday, but there is no news of when he might return to racing.
