The pair's last collaboration ended in failure, with Camelot’s disappointing seventh in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, but the Irishman has not been put off another link-up in the future.

Asked if he would like to use Dettori once the ban imposed by France Galop is lifted, O'Brien said: "Absolutely, Frankie has always been a great rider, he still is and always will be."

The man from Ballydoyle added that the Italian's experience is unrivalled, given his knowledge of most racecourses and his success all over the world.

Yet O'Brien would still have to convince Coolmore Racing's owners to associate their top jockeys with a man whose reputation has been tarnished by what Dettori called a "moment of madness".
