By the time he had finished winning the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe for the fourth time last year, the French jockey’s attentions had already turned to the famous race.

Eight months later and Peslier can now see the French Oaks as a genuine target, given both the results obtained by his horse Silasol and his own excellent recent form.

Since September 2012, just rival jockey Maxime Guyon and Esotérique have managed to thwart Peslier and his filly.

But the pair appear to be on track this time around and, even though Longchamp has long been Peslier's favourite track, he has still won five Group 1s at Chantilly, including the Prix Jean Prat three times and the French Derby twice.

Silasol arrives in Chantilly unbeaten in two Group 1s and if Peslier repeats his performance of June 8, when he won a Group 3 that he had dominated from start to finish at Chantilly, their main rivals Flotilla and Esotérique will have a task on their hands to beat them.
