Horse Racing: Thursday's Market Movers

LIZZY’S DREAM (2.10, Wolverhampton) has been as big as 5-1 in places this morning but there has been a strong move for Danny Tudhope’s mount who is now best price 11-4. The 9yo is on a lengthy losing run but he’s been beaten less than two lengths on each of his last three starts and Tudhope has partnered him to his last two wins.

The two-mile handicap hurdle at Limerick looks a wide-open affair but punters are expecting an improved showing from MARAKOUSH (2.45, Limerick) who has been supported into 4-1 having opened up a 7-1 chance in places. He should be sharper for his belated seasonal debut at Fairyhouse last month and connections clearly don’t feel the drop back to two miles is going to be any inconvenience.

MONOLOGUE (4.20, Wolverhampton) has been backed into 9-4 (from 3-1) to follow up last week’s breakthrough Kempton win. The former Godolphin-owned 4yo looks to be improving for trainer Simon Hodgson and he ran well in defeat at this track on his penultimate start, so a 6lb penalty might not be enough to stop him against bunch of exposed rivals.

The step up in trip could bring about an improved effort from ICE ROYAL (6.15, Chelmsford) and punters have latched onto Jamie Osborne’s consistent 4yo. He has only won one of 15 starts on the all-weather but he’s been knocking loudly at the door of late, including at this venue last time, and punters have forced his price into 6-1 from an opening 11-1 quote.
