Hot Football Transfer Gossip: United tell Mourinho to wait a year

We lead today's Hot Football Transfer Gossip with the news that Manchester United have asked Jose Mourinho to replace Louis van Gaal - but to wait a year before taking over the Old Trafford hotseat, at least that's according to The Sun. But Mourinho still believes he is as close as ever to taking over from Van Gaal, perhaps even by the end of the month, following United's FA Cup final against Crystal Palace.

Sticking with fallen Premier League giants, and incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has some big plans to resurrect the Blues next season. The Daily Mail report Napoli and former Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain is his top target and could arrive in a £42 million deal.

But Conte doesn't plan on stopping there according to the Daily Star, as they report he wants to keep Jose Mourinho flop Juan Cuadrado and will recall the winger from a loan spell with Juventus - but he will sweeten the deal by selling them midfielder Nemanja Matic. The Mail also report Eden Hazard will reject overtures from PSG and Real Madrid to stay at Stamford Bridge next season.

And Hazard could be joined in the Premier League by his younger brother Thorgan, a midfielder with Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach, who is reportedly wanted by title champions Leicester.

Corriere dello Sport report Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny could be heading back to the Gunners this summer because the Premier League side are no longer willing to contribute to his wages at Roma.

In other news, Barcelona are interested in Newcastle forward Ayoze Perez apparently (Daily Mail), Spurs are interested in Sion's 23-year-old Senegal international forward Moussa Konate  (Daily Mirror) and former Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is the 'clear favourite' to be appointed the new manager at Nottingham Forest (Nottingham Post).
