Hot Football Transfer Gossip: Chelsea ‘swoop for Alexis and Van Dijk’, Arsenal ‘willing to sell Ozil’

Chelsea are annoying. They keep winning, they don’t get any injuries, all the players who were rubbish last year are suddenly brilliant, even Victor Moses for Pete’s sake. It’s a joke.

But your annoyance at Chelsea is a mere speck compared to the blind fury Arsenal fans will feel about the Blues if today’s Hot Football Transfer Gossip turns out to be more than a figment of the Daily Mirror’s imagination. The tabloid says Alexis Sanchez is on his way to Stamford Bridge.

Roman Abramovich is reportedly “ready to pounce” for the Gunners’ star geezer if he does not resolve his contract stand-off at the Emirates.

The Blues want Sanchez to form a “dream strike partnership” with Diego Costa, a phrase the Mirror seems to have spontaneously come up with after cleverly noticing the duo are the current top scorers in the Premier League.

The Mirror says keeping Sanchez is a “greater priority” for Arsenal than holding on to his fellow star geezer Mesut Ozil - a claim backed up by the Telegraph’s report that the Gunners are “willing to sell” the German playmaker.

The paper says Arsene Wenger will “reluctantly listen to offers” for Ozil if he does not lower his “astronomical” wage demands. Wonder what it looks like when Wenger listens reluctantly - maybe he sticks his finger in one ear while frowning.

There is further evidence of Chelsea being annoying in the Times, which reports that the Blues are planning to gazump Manchester United and Liverpool in the pursuit of Southampton’s £30m-rated centre-back Virgil van Dijk.

Blues boss Antonio Conte is also preparing to annoy Fiorentina by making a £38m bid for their 22-year-old winger Federico Bernardeschi, who earned his first Italy cap under Conte earlier this year (Star).

Man Utd will “listen to offers” for Marouane Fellaini in January (note the lack of “reluctantly”) but are only interested in cash deals and do not want him to go out on loan, says the Mail. This could be disappointing news for alleged Fellaini admirers West Ham, who are thought to be keen on the Belgian but only on a temporary basis.

Europe’s top clubs, including United, Chelsea, Man City and Barcelona, have been sent into a frenzy by Ajax manager Peter Bosz admitting his highly rated midfielder Riechedly Bazoer will be sold in January, says the Mirror.

Elsewhere, Celtic have insisted their young striker Moussa Dembele will not be sold (Record), Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal have called up Isco’s father to find out if the Real Madrid playmaker wants to join them (Sun) and Stoke are competing with Borussia Dortmund to sign prolific Krasnodar striker Fedor Smolov (Stoke Sentinel). Wonder who he’ll choose out of those two.
