Gossip: Chelsea 'target Alexis and Sandro to appease Conte', Real Madrid 'want £177m Kane'

Real-ly big targets: Harry Kane, Alex Sandro and Alexis Sanchez
Real-ly big targets: Harry Kane, Alex Sandro and Alexis Sanchez

How do you make a man like Antonio Conte truly happy? He’s always screaming and shouting on the touchline; he’s permanently peeved by the actions of his superiors; he’s constantly pining for his native Italy.

What must Roman Abramovich do to soothe this smouldering genius? There’s only one way he knows – and that’s to shower him with gifts. Expensive, lavish gifts.

What kind of gift do you get a man like Antonio Conte? Simple – a lithe, muscle-bound, exquisitely talented young South American man. Or two.

Today’s Mirror reports that Chelsea owner Abramovich will attempt to keep his Italian coach at Stamford Bridge by buying him Alex Sandro and Alexis Sanchez for Christmas – or, at least, in the January sales.

Conte is said to be “frustrated” at missing out on key transfer targets in the summer and is considering walking out on the Blues. However, Abramovich will try to appease him by making a “fresh bid” for one of the those targets – Juventus’ £60m-rated left-back Sandro.

As for Alexis, Chelsea will be hoping to get the Arsenal forward for a “cut-price fee” in the New Year after Alvaro Morata’s hamstring injury “exposed their lack of options up front”. Or, in other words, Conte’s complete lack of faith in Michy Batshuayi.

There’s no guarantee Conte will be persuaded by presents though. The Sun says he is wanted by AC Milan to replace under pressure manager Vincenzo Montella, with Conte apparently keen to return home “in the near future”.

Real Madrid want goal machine Kane

Harry Kane’s amazing form has, sadly for Tottenham, not escaped the attentions of Real Madrid. The Mail – via Spanish luminaries Don Balon – says Zinedine Zidane is pondering a summer bid for the England striker and is “not deterred” by the potential £177m asking price.

It’s not hard to see why. Kane has scored 14 goals for club and country so far this season -which is 14 more goals than Real’s main centre-forward Karim Benzema has managed.

Another north London football legend, Theo Walcott, could also be in line for a transfer. But not to Real Madrid, unfortunately for him.

The Sun says West Ham and Everton are interested in the rarely used Gunners winger, whose £110,000-a-week wages have been annoying the ever-frugal Arsene Wenger.

Elsewhere, Manchester City could face a battle to keep coach Patrick Vieira (now there’s a real Arsenal legend) at the Etihad with French club Saint Etienne interested in making him their new manager (Manchester Evening News), fit-again Liverpool striker Danny Ings is being lined up for a January move to Leeds United (Mirror) and alleged Arsenal target Kepa Arrizabalaga is set to snub the Gunners and sign a new Athletic Bilbao contract with a £66.5m release clause (Talksport). It would almost be newsworthy if someone signed a contract with a release clause that was worth less than £60m.
