Hot Football Transfer Gossip: Man City ‘target Jesus’ and ‘annoy Arsenal’ with Bellerin swoop

Pep Guardiola has only been in England a matter of weeks and he’s already getting into the swing of the Hot Football Transfer Gossip scene. He’s launched audacious swoops, received “come and get me” pleas and now he can add the rite of passage of being issued with his first “hands off” warning.

The warning, according to the Daily Mirror, came from Arsenal, and the player it concerned was Hector Bellerin.

The Gunners are apparently fuming that Guardiola’s interest in the young Spanish right-back has “thrown a spanner” into their own contract talks with the Barcelona academy graduate, who is probably wondering whether contract talks with City might be more lucrative (which they almost certainly would).

City have also been pestering another youngster by the name of Gabriel Jesus. The Manchester Evening News says City are favourites to sign the 19-year-old Brazilian, despite the fact he is also wanted by Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United.

West Ham are set to have some contract developments of their own, with the Star claiming that AC MIlan striker Carlos Bacca will decide today whether to accept the Hammers’ offer to pay him £70,000 to play football in east London for the next four years.

The 29-year-old Colombian has been keeping the Irons waiting while hoping that a better club will try to buy him, but they haven’t.

Chelsea are being linked with Romelu Lukaku for the first time in ages, with the Liverpool Echo dredging up the story that the Blues are prepared to pay £50m to re-sign the big Belgian from Everton.

That would either mean Alvaro Morata is not coming to Stamford Bridge, Diego Costa is leaving or Michy Batshuayi has not looked very good in training.

Alternatively, the Sun says the Blues have bid £41.5m for Edinson Cavani, but Paris Saint-Germain want £66.5m instead, which may explain why they would re-ignite their interest in Lukaku.

Juventus want Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko to replace Man Utd-bound Paul Pogba, possibly just on the basis of watching them play in the Euro 2016 final, but the Italians face competition from Everton (Mirror).

Elsewhere, ex-Chelsea man Andre Schurrle is close to a £25m move to Borussia Dortmund (Bild), Watford are interested in Lille midfielder Sofiane Boufal (Watford Observer) and West Brom have “not yet made a bid” for Aston Villa defender Ciaran Clark (Birmingham Mail). We suspect Ciaran Clark’s agent may have fed them that story just to add a bit of excitement to his life.
