Hot Football Transfer Gossip: Real ‘want Hazard’, Palace ‘target Benteke’

So anyway, Eden Hazard is good again now, because he played really well against Hungary, and Chelsea fans are starting to think that maybe it would be best if he stayed at Stamford Bridge after all. All that stuff they said about him betraying their beloved Jose Mourinho and being generally spineless and ineffective can be swept under the carpet. So obviously, this would be the point when Real Madrid decide to renew their interest in buying him.

The Mirror reports that the Blues are “bracing themselves” for a £75m bid from the Spanish giants, who are reportedly ready to offer £40m in actual money plus £35m worth of Alvaro Morata to land the Belgian playmaker. (And we’re assuming that £35m constitutes all of Alvaro Morata; he won’t turn up with an arm missing.)

If that offer doesn’t seduce the Blues, the Mirror adds that Real are also willing to throw James Rodriguez (all of him) into the bargain. Which is no surprise because they’ve been trying to give him away (for money) to anyone who’ll take him for ages.

One player the Blues seem to have completely lost interest in is Romelu Lukaku, who until recently seemed quite keen on them. The Star says that Antonio Conte’s imminent capture of Michy Batshuayi means that Everton striker Lukaku - who at £65m would have cost double what Chelsea are paying for his Belgium team-mate - is no longer wanted at the Bridge.

And what about Belgium’s third-choice centre-forward Christian Benteke? Overlooked by his country, unwanted at his club Liverpool, the Telegraph has some news for him that could rub even more salt into the wounds. The only team that want to sign him are Crystal Palace.

Naturally, Liverpool have demanded £30m for the misfiring striker, knowing that the Eagles have just unsuccessfully bid that amount for Batshuayi. But they’re plainly having a laugh if they think Benteke’s value has decreased by a mere £2.5m since they paid £32.5m for him a year ago.

Sticking with misfiring strikers, the Sun says Manchester City will offer Wilfried Bony to Everton in part exchange for John Stones if the Toffees sell Lukaku. Bit complicated, isn’t it? Although the tabloid reckons that even if Chelsea don’t want Lukaku anymore, Manchester United might do.

Meanwhile, the king of misfiring strikers, Radamel Falcao, could be on his way Napoli as a replacement for Gonzalo Higuain, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. Higuain has said he wants to leave the Serie A club, but there may not be too many takers at the current reported asking price of £78m. Yes, really.

Elsewhere, Arsene Wenger has “refused to rule out” a move for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette (Standard), West Brom are interested in £18m-rated Atletico Madrid striker Borja Baston (Mail) and Tottenham and Leicester apparently want to buy 30-year-old Krasnodar defender Ragnar Sigurdsson - that’s the fella who scored against England for Iceland on Monday (Guardian). Presumably this is just because Jamie Vardy and Dele Alli want to push around a bit and call him names. Very immature.
