Hot Football Transfer Gossip: Wilshere ‘set for Milan’, Man Utd ‘monitor Kane’

Jack Wilshere may have thought that he and Arsenal were just “on a break” when he made his sojourn down to the south coast this summer. But like many so-called breaks, it increasingly appears that the Gunners were merely letting Jack down gently. They just couldn’t bring themselves to say the words, “You’re Dumped”.

The healthy thing is that Wilshere is starting to gradually accept that Arsene Wenger has fallen out of love with him and is getting regular action from Granit Xhaka instead.

The Star reports that the England midfielder is starting to come round to the idea that there are plenty more fish in the sea. Or more specifically, in the AC.

The tabloid says Italian giants Milan will try to buy Wilshere in the summer, when his Bournemouth loan will expire and he will have just a year left on his Gunners contract.

Rather than pining for Wenger, Wilshere is said to be “increasingly keen on moving to Italy” after seeing how Joe Hart has “thrived” in Serie A with Torino. That’s how a spell playing for Bournemouth can really change a man’s perspective on life.

Harry Kane may also be wondering whether he’d be better off (or at least, better paid) somewhere else. The Mirror says the Tottenham striker has “urged” the club to sort out his contract, which currently earns him £60,000 a week - significantly less than fellow England strikers such as Daniel Sturridge, Jamie Vardy and Andy Carroll, who isn’t even really an England striker.

If Spurs don’t pay up, then Manchester United are said to be hovering.

United and Chelsea are battling to sign £17m-rated Santos teenager Thiago Maia, reports the Express. The 19-year-old, who is also wanted by Paris Saint-Germain, is described as "one of the hottest properties in Brazilian football".

United and Chelsea already signed one of those when they bought Anderson and Lucas Piazon respectively, but that evidently hasn’t put them off.

Another South American teenager wanted in England is 16-year-old Uruguayan starlet Gustavo Viera, who the Sun is being chased by Everton and Liverpool.

One thing that could give the Reds the edge over their Merseyside rivals is that the team Viera plays for in Uruguay is also called Liverpool, so they may be able to sign him without anyone noticing.

Elsewhere, West Ham’s in-demand defender Reece Oxford is set to sign a new five-year deal in east London “within the next 10 days” (Sun), Leicester are interested in signing Olympiakos’ Serbian midfielder Luka Milivojevic in January (Mirror) and Hull striker Abel Hernandez is ready to quit the Premier League Tigers for Championship Aston Villa in January because that’s how deep his love is for Villa boss Steve Bruce (Hull Daily Mail). Heart-warming.
