Howard Webb is set to make his first public appearance since the Professional Game Match Officials Limited were forced to suspend David Coote. The Premier League referee has been suspended pending an investigation after a video was posted on social media that appears to show him using highly offensive language about former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

A video, which remains unverified, appearing to show Coote making derogatory comments about Klopp, was widely circulated on social media on Monday. However, the Press Association is reporting that it is understood the PGMOL is treating it as genuine.

Coote was the referee for Liverpool's win over Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday night, and in the video he is asked for his views on a Liverpool match where he has just been fourth official and describes them as "s***".

The 42-year-old then uses an offensive term to describe Klopp, and when asked why he felt that way, he says the German had "a right pop at me when I reffed them against Burnley in lockdown" and had accused him of lying.

Confirming the suspension, a PGMOL statement read: "David Coote has been suspended with immediate effect pending a full investigation.

"PGMOL will be making no further comment until that process is complete."

And Webb will come under the spotlight tonight when he takes part in the latest episode of Match Officials: Mic'd Up. The show will be shown on both Sky Sports and TNT Sports at 7pm.

However, it is unlikely that Webb will address Coote and his suspension. Not only are episodes filmed in advance of being broadcast, but the PGMOL have already confirmed that no further comment will be made on the matter while the investigation is still ongoing.
