Huddersfield forward Joe Greenwood says he is in talks with the club about extending his stay at the John Smith’s Stadium.
The 29-year-old joined the Giants from Wigan ahead of the 2021 season and is currently in the last of his original two-year deal.
Greenwood admits that he would like to remain at Huddersfield, where he has made 30 appearances so far.
In total, the England international has made 131 Super League appearances, having started his career with St Helens. He also appeared for the Gold Coast Titans in the NRL across two seasons in 2017 and 2018, making 22 appearances and scoring four tries. He won his first and only cap so far in 2018 against New Zealand at Elland Road.
Joe Greenwood eyes Huddersfield stay
“I love it here,” Greenwood said. “Watto (Ian Watson) brought me along and the way he plays and his game plan suits me really well. I’ve changed my position into the middle now. I’m really enjoying my rugby under him. He’s a really good coach and a really good mentor as well.
“He’s not just a coach, I’d like to say he’s a good friend as well. He can speak to different people and he knows how to get the best out of people. I think everyone is enjoying it under him.
“I’m off deal (at the end of the year). We’re just negotiating at the moment so hopefully we’ll get something sorted.
“I really want to stay so fingers crossed. Hopefully we’ll come to some agreement and I can stay up there and carry on.
“I’m really enjoying it and they say if you’re enjoying it, you’ll get the best out of your rugby. Hopefully I’ll stay and Watto will stay around as well; the way he’s coaching, anybody will want to grab him!”
