Huddersfield Town loanee sends timely selection reminder to Michael Duff
Huddersfield Town forward Callum Marshall said he had a “point to prove” when he came off the bench at Leyton Orient as the forward looks to reclaim a place in the starting line-up.
Marshall sealed the win late on in Tuesday’s clash at Brisbane Road, with the forward charging down Os stopper Josh Keeley’s clearance in the 90th minute to secure the 2-0 victory for his side.
The West Ham United loanee has dropped to the bench for the past two matches against Orient and Charlton Athletic, but the 20-year-old is hoping that his goalscoring appearance has given him a chance of regaining a starting spot.

Discussing the late clincher, Marshall told BBC Radio Leeds: “It was good to have, because I’ve had a tough couple of weeks. I don’t mind, any goal’s a goal, so it felt really good when it went in.
“I want to be starting games, and obviously I didn’t today, and I didn’t the other day either. I knew I had a point to prove when I came on, and I knew I had to show I think I should be starting, so hopefully I’ve put a doubt in the manager’s mind next week.
“I saw him a couple of times take a bit long on the ball, so I knew I had to press him on one of them at least, so I’m just happy it paid off.”
Tuesday’s result leaves the Terriers fifth in League One, on 29 points from 16 matches played, with Michael Duff’s side now seven matches unbeaten in the division.
Northern Ireland international Marshall highlighted the importance of his side putting victories on the board, saying: “Especially in League One, every game’s about getting the win and getting three points. We know if we’re not delivering, they’re the first ones to let us know (the fans).
“We already know ourselves, but we had so many chances today, especially in the second half, to put it to bed. It got a bit ropey towards the end, so we were just happy to get the win and put it to bed, and move on to the next game.”
