Huge Chelsea signing hasn’t ‘shown enough’ and it could be ‘some time before’ his best appears
One journalist does not think expensive Chelsea signing Mykhaylo Mudryk has “shown enough” but he thinks “it could be quit some time before” his best is on show.
Todd Boehly has sanctioned the signings of more than £500million worth of players in just two transfer windows as the chairman of Chelsea. Indeed, 15 players have walked through the door that the Blues have paid a fee for in that time.
Only one man – British record signing Enzo Fernandez – cost more than Mudryk did from Shakhtar Donetsk. The Ukrainian winger’s fee will rise to around £88million with add-ons.
Given they paid that sum, the Blues would have been expecting big things. While Mudryk has never played in a top-five league, he’d performer in Ukraine as well as in the Champions League.
In six games in European competition this season before heading to Stamford Bridge, the forward had scored three goals and assisted another two.
As such, despite having not played at the same standard as the Premier League, he’d performed against some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Chelsea haven’t seen the talent Mudryk showed for Shakhtar yet though. In six games in all competitions, he’s yet to have an impact going forwards, and he’s been dropped for the last two games.
One journalist believes the transition has been hard for him, though he will show his class.
“It can’t be easy for him really. I don’t think he’s shown enough yet and I do think he will improve,” he told GIVEMESPORT.
However, he feels Chelsea could be waiting a while before they are able to get the best out of the star.
“I think Chelsea fans obviously are yet to see the best of him, but I think it could be quite some time before we do see the best of Mudryk,” he added.
“It’s just a question of how quickly he manages to adapt to his new surroundings.”
The ideal scenario would be that Mudryk gets up to speed sooner rather than later. Of course, it’s not as if Chelsea don’t have attacking talent beyond the Ukrainian.
They actually have a wealth of attacking talent – in the squad, other than him, there are eight players that are classed as attackers, as well as a few more than can play in the front line.
However, after spending such a hefty fee on a player that might have gone to a rival if they hadn’t, they’ll want him to find his feet soon, or they’ll be left with egg on their face and a hole in their pocket.
