He had to be consoled by team-mate Olivier Giroud, a far cry from the weekend when the players embraced on the sidelines when the Frenchman nodded in the winning goal against Liverpool.

Conte has yet to confirm his departure, but with Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri the bookies’ favourite to replace the former Italy coach, it is surely a matter of time.

The currently Chelsea boss has been linked with PSG, who are looking for a new boss following Unai Emery’s imminent departure.
