Tottenham dealt double blow with Alli and Lloris to miss Liverpool clash

Both Dele Alli and Hugo Lloris will be missing for Tottenham's clash with Liverpool.

Alli withdrew from the England squad with a hamstring injury following the defeat against Spain and, while Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate was confident he'd be able to feature for his club on Saturday, it seems the game has come too soon.

Meanwhile Hugo Lloris, who was set to have a scan on Thursday, has been ruled out for 'several weeks' and will face a further scan to determine just how serious his thigh problem is.

Earlier this week the 31-year-old said he was hoping to return this weekend: "There’s perhaps a chance for this weekend, but we’ll see depending on how things go this week," he told RMC Sport.

The Tottenham and France captain was fined £50,000 by the court and banned from driving for 20 months after he admitted being more than twice the drink drive limit, Tottenham also fined their goalkeeper £250,000, two weeks' wages.

However, Pochettino has confirmed that Hugo Lloris will remain as club captain despite his 20-month driving ban after admitting drink driving.

“It was a mistake and then we are men and women,” Pochettino said.

“We can all make mistakes. It's a massive lesson to everyone."

Harry Kane is likely to take the captain's armband against Liverpool and, despite questions over his fitness following a short break after the World Cup, Pochettino has no concerns.

"I think he's fit and it's only a matter of time before he starts scoring goals," he told Sky Sports.

"He's one of the best strikers in the world and there's no doubt he is one of the best players in Europe."
