Hull City next manager odds: Mark Robins favourite with ex-Man Utd and Liverpool stars on list

Hull City's decision to sack Tim Walter on Wednesday came as no surprise given the frustration that was evident at the MKM Stadium after the defeat to Sheffield Wednesday. It was clear Walter has lost whatever support remained on the terraces and with Acun Ilicali in attendance, it was obvious the owner could not avoid seeing that displeasure first hand.

Now the City supremo is facing the challenge of hiring yet another manager, and it's a decision he cannot afford to get wrong. Given he led the club from a relegation struggle to seventh in the table last season, Liam Rosenior's appointment was a success for Ilicali, despite him sacking the ex-City player.

Walter's appointment was far from a success and neither was that of Shota Arveladze, but the next one has to work if the club are to climb up the table away from relegation danger. The club will now take the next few days to examine their options, with Andy Dawson placed in temporary charge.

What are those options? Well, as usual the bookies have been quick to have their say and the list is certainly eye-catching, if a little fanciful. Frank Lampard is listed as an 8/1 chance with Gambling.com, despite the fact he's all set to take over at Coventry City, probably in the next 24 hours.

After losing his job at Coventry, Mark Robins is the early favourite to be the next City boss with odds as low as 6/5, while another former Manchester United striker also makes the list with Ruud Van Nistelrooy at 2/1 to be the next in the hotseat at the MKM Stadium.

Given the obvious Turkey connections, it's no surprise Ismail Kartal, a manager looked at previously, is second favourite at 6/4.
