Hull Kingston Rovers chairman Paul Sewell said that a legacy is going to be left by the club's current generation.

After Hull KR Foundation released an aerial shot including their new community pitch facility, Sewell posted on social media: "Wonderful to see our Sewell Group Craven Park campus taking shape. This generation of Robins will leave a genuine legacy for the community and city. Thank you to all concerned. We press on with the next phase."

The club's head of academy Jason Netherton also expressed his excitement by posting, with a picture of the facility: "Things you love to see. All of the Hull KR Pathway players on our new 4G pitch at the same time this morning. This is a massive step in the right direction for us as a club."

Rovers' first-team players, including senior ones who have not been granted an extended break, had a chance to work on the new pitch for training when they returned for pre-season at the end of this week. A grand opening of the community pitch will take place on Saturday December 7, when Hull KR Foundation will welcome community club partners Hull Dockers, East Hull and Barham AFC.

In an interview after returning to pre-season, Rovers captain Elliot Minchella spoke about his appreciation for having the facility conveniently on site - and the fact that it can be used by other local sports teams and young people, referencing how much he appreciated using these types of facilities when he was growing up.
