Hull KR youngster Jack Potter has joined League 1’s Doncaster on an initial two-week loan deal with immediate effect.

The 19-year-old half-back adds competition to Richard Horne’s squad ahead of their Challenge Cup third round tie with Workington on Sunday.

Potter previously featured for Newcastle Thunder earlier this year on a month’s loan period.

Doncaster head coach Horne said: “Jack will come in and add some cover for us. Having had three games we’ve obviously had a couple of bumps and bruises so we may look to rest one or two.

“He’s had a little stint up at Newcastle and experienced the standards there, so we felt it was a good fit to bring him in and add to what we’ve got available.”

More on Jack Potter

Potter joined the club’s academy last July, linking up with the Under-19s squad. Newly-appointed head of academy Jason Netherton marked his addition as an exciting one for the club at the time.

The coach previously said: “I think Jack is a really good example of resilience and perseverance. He has had some setbacks in his short career, but he has really dug in over the last year or so and worked extremely hard at his game.

“Jack has been a really good example for us to show the players what to do in and away from the game. It’s showing in his performances on the training field.

“He’s a little dynamo. He plays with plenty of energy and enthusiasm. He’s very loud out there and directs and that’s exactly what you need from your half-back. Jack bosses the team around and tells them what to do and where to go. He has got a big future I think.

“He loves Hull KR and he lives and breathes the club. Constantly in the east stand cheering the first team on, so it would be great to see him run out there and get cheered on by that crowd as well.”
