Hull KR players sent message about mentality as return looms after Grand Final pain
Hull Kingston Rovers players have their final weekend now before they get back to work - and they will face a mental test in the early stages of pre-season.
Having fallen at the final hurdle last season in the Grand Final after the hard work to get there, they are at the start of the journey again. So the mindset has to be spot on. Breaks overseas, in the sunshine, have been enjoyed and now it is time to step into cold, wet climate and get ready to graft again. The will has to be there to push themselves again and reach great heights.
Asked how important mindsets are, in terms of having to start again, Hull KR coach Willie Peters said: "I think that's an individual thing. If people aren't coming in ready to go and wanting to do better then they shouldn't be wearing our jersey and they won't be wearing our jersey. It's about players coming in and wanting to be better and wanting to succeed. It's not so much looking at the end result, it's purely about getting better every day and what that looks like.

"Of course we have played in the Grand Final now and the Challenge Cup final, we are playing for silverware of course. But every team that starts pre-season will be aiming high because there's no point putting yourselves through a pre-season and 27 games if you are not aiming to go out and win something or make finals and that type of thing.
"For us, we'll narrow that down to what does our day one look like, then the next day. If we don't have players that are looking to get better, then they'll find it hard to get a spot."
