Hull Kingston Rovers' new high-profile arrival Jared Waerea-Hargreaves touched down at Heathrow on Wednesday afternoon and was greeted by club officials.

The dry and mild temperatures in England were a calm introduction for the fierce New Zealander as he travelled over from Los Angeles International Airport following a family holiday in California's warmth after the end of the NRL season. The former Sydney Roosters prop was back in England for the first time since the Rugby League World Cup two years ago when he was based at York with the New Zealand team.

Waerea-Hargreaves, in a Hull KR top, was with his wife Chelsea and their three children, with the youngsters all dressed in Rovers jerseys. This is a period for them to settle into life in East Yorkshire with his official introduction by the club as a new arrival taking place next week and pre-season following from the end of November.

The three-times Grand Final winner has previously spoken about his love of being in England while on international duty and about how passionate the people are. At the time of signing his deal with Rovers, he said "I love the working class city of Hull, it’s been on my radar for a couple of years".

Having a close friendship with former Hull KR and New Zealand player Shaun Kenny-Dowall, now Rovers transition development coach, was a key factor in him moving here. He has joined on a one-year deal for the 2025 season, adding experience and bite to an already impressive Hull KR pack.
