Hull KR supporter's book captures 'extraordinary' Robins' rise and remembers Phil Lowe
Hull KIngston Rovers supporter Dan Crowther admitted it had been a "wonderful" and "unexpected" journey to write his book The Rise of the Robins.
His latest Hull KR book tells the story of the 2024 season and can now be accessed through Kindle or paperback, available via Amazon. It follows up from his 2021 season book The Robin Sings Again and his 2022 book A Year of Change.
Asked about the experience of writing the book with it being such a successful season, he said: "Traditionally you associate writing a book with being in control of the narrative, the destiny. In these cases, as the season is unfolding, you have got no control over it.

"It's been wonderful. And unexpected, I would say. Going into pre-season, I did feel like the club could replicate the previous top four finish but for the season to explode into life in the way that it did and for them to genuinely challenge for the title was extraordinary - for not just my generation. It's something that a lot of people haven't seen while they have been supporting the club."
As well as on-pitch matters, the book gives attention to what has happened off the field during the year, including the home sell-outs and off-pitch initiatives such as the connection with Papua New Guinea. There is a heartfelt tribute paid to the legendary former Hull KR player Phil Lowe including his work on the pitch and in the boardroom.
Crowther said: "When he passed away, I felt like we'd witnessed the passing of the second greatest player, second only to Roger Millward. So it was really important to capture Phil's life in as much detail as possible. Because he stopped playing in 1983, and generations have passed without seeing him play, they can't really appreciate him perhaps in the manner that he deserves. So I made it a really important part of the book to capture and detail his life."
