Oval Invincibles secured the prized signature of England fast bowler Saqib Mahmood in the Hundred redraft.

Lord’s-based London Spirit, coached by Shane Warne, picked up former England all-rounder Ravi Bopara and Hampshire seamer Chris Wood to complete a roster already featuring Eoin Morgan and Glenn Maxwell.

Invincibles went into yesterday’s redraft with four slots to fill and picked up Lancashire’s Mahmood (one of the few England white-ball internationals in the redraft), South African batsman Colin Ingram, Surrey all-rounder Jordan Clark and Northants bowler Brandon Glover. They join the Curran brothers, Jason Roy and Sam Billings.

The first player picked was West Indies’ star Nicholas Pooran, who was joined by Kagiso Rabada at Manchester Originals. Keiron Pollard was picked up by Welsh Fire and David Warner by Southern Brave.

In the women’s competition, Spirit signed Tammy Beaumont and Invincibles picked up Australia’s Rachael Haynes.

The fixtures for the ECB’s new tournament, delayed by a year because of the coronavirus pandemic, were also announced today.

The competition will launch on July 21 with a standalone women’s match between Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals at Kia Oval, before the remainder of league stage games are played as double headers, with men’s and women’s teams playing back-to-back.

The finals of both tournaments will be staged at Lord’s on August 21.
