Gareth Southgate says that the only way England can get over their heartache of losing the Euro 2020 Final is to win the World Cup.

That journey, which they hope will end with glory in Qatar, continues tonight when they take on Hungary in Budapest.

It is only seven weeks since the agony of their defeat by Italy on penalties and they face a side that defied expectations at the same tournament.

Marco Rossi’s men came within a whisker of progressing out of a group at the Euros containing Portugal, France and Germany.

They have also made a promising start to World Cup qualifying with seven points from three games, their only blemish being a 3-3 draw with Poland.

England arrive in Budapest with a perfect record from their three matches with a goal difference of +8, although five of their goals did come against San Marino.

Jack Grealish was not one of the regular starters during the Euros but following his £100million move to Manchester City there is a chance he could be in the XI tonight. Even if he only makes an appearance from the bench, his creativity would give the Hungary defence something to think about.
