Ian McCall has been sacked by Clyde after less than a year in charge.

The former Partick Thistle, Ayr United and Dundee United boss was appointed by the Bully Wee last November as the club sat two points adrift at the bottom of League Two. And despite falling 10 points behind in February, McCall managed to lead Clyde to the Great Escape by preserving the club's SPFL status on the final day of the campaign.

However, the Bully Wee find themselves in another relegation battle this season as they sit ninth in Scotland's fourth tier with just one win from nine games. Bottom boys Edinburgh City can leapfrog Clyde if they win their game in hand and the board have decided to wield the axe.

A club statement read: "The board can confirm that Ian McCall has left his position as manager of Clyde FC by mutual consent with immediate effect.

"We would like to place on record our huge thanks for his efforts in keeping the club in League 2 last season, and we wish Ian every success in the future. The club also confirms that Neil Scally and Mark Kerr will assume responsibility of the team on a caretaker basis while we follow due process to appoint a new manager."

McCall said: "I take great pride in having contributed to the club’s success in maintaining its league status last season, particularly from such a challenging position. I extend my best wishes to the Clyde board, players and supporters for the future."
