Ian Wright calls out Bukayo Saka debate as Ally McCoist passes Arsenal verdict
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has called out the debate surrounding Bukayo Saka as 'clickbait' after pundit Ally McCoist hesitated to put the Englishman in the world-class bracket.
Saka has been one of the stars of Mikel Arteta's Arsenal team for a prolonged period now and his performances this season have continued to back that up. So far, the 23-year-old has two goals and seven assists to his name in ten appearances across all competitions as the Gunners aim to win the Premier League title at their third proper attempt.
However, his displays for Arsenal are not enough for some to deem him to be at the world-class level just yet. Speaking on talkSPORT, McCoist claimed: "I really like him, I think he’s a terrific player.
"I think [Mohamed] Salah is world-class, I think Saka is international-class and he has the potential to become world-class. Do I like Saka? You better believe I do.
"He’s absolutely vital to Arsenal. There’s continued improvement in him, but I would be reserving the world-class tag just at the moment."
In an impassioned response to the ongoing debate surrounding Saka, Wright told Premier League Productions that the conversation is more black and white than a topic that can be argued both for and against. "That’s the problem, the way you said it there makes sense [becoming world-class by winning trophies such as World Cups]," he said.

"When you watch the World Cup, that’s what you see. You see world-class players.
"[Zinedine] Zidane and Kaka, all those players. They won the World Cup.
"The way people are throwing this about like he’s not world-class, he isn’t world-class [by that barometer]. It’s just a clickbait kind of conversation. It’s so annoying it is."
