Ianis Hagi wanted by Rapid Bucharest as Romanians make admission on Rangers star
Ianis Hagi is wanted by Rapid Bucharest as Neil Lennon's replacement eyes up the Rangers man.
Celtic legend Lennon was sacked by the Romanian side after zero wins from their first six league matches left them sitting 12th in the 16 team top flight. He has been quickly replaced by Marius Sumudica who was unveiled as the new Rapid boss today and returns to the club after previous spells.
Quizzed on Hagi, he told Digi Sport: “Ianis Hagi is a high value player that I think every club wants We’ll see. We have some discussions, we’ll see how they go. I hope he’ll be interested in coming to Rapid. That’s the most important thing.”
However, Rapid shareholder Dan Sucu was far more forthcoming when asked about the link, stating simply: "We really want him."
The 25-year-old has been training and playing with the Gers B team as the club tries to offload him following his loan at Alaves last season. It is a move that has been questioned by some supporters who wonder why the Romania international is involved with the second string when the first team don't have a lot of options.
