Manchester United should make an attempt to re-sign Paul Pogba on a two-year contract. That is the verdict of former United forward Dwight Yorke, who believes the Frenchman could bring the "X-factor" and excitement back if he is offered the chance for a third spell at Old Trafford.

The 31-year-old is a free agent and has been without a club since Juventus terminated his contract last month. The Serie A side decided against keeping the midfielder following his ban from football.

Pogba was suspended in September 2023 after failing a doping test and was later struck with a four-year ban which looked like it would end his professional playing career. However, following an appeal, the suspension was reduced to 18 months, meaning Pogba would be able to return to training in January before making his return to competitive action in March. Despite this, Pogba, who hasn't played a minute of competitive football since the first month of the 2023/24 season, is still searching for new employers.

There has been talk over Pogba re-joining United for a third time, two-and-a-half years since he departed the club to return to Juventus. And now, Yorke has delivered his verdict on a potential return to Manchester for the Frenchman and believes it would be a good move for all parties involved.

Speaking to Sports Lens, Yorke said: "Paul Pogba is better than what we have, that's for sure. Whether the fans will welcome him back and make life easy for him, I don't know, that could be the problem he faces.

"A fit Pogba, playing football the way he can play football, will definitely add value to the team. He's a sensational player; he's a really good talent. He offers that little bit of an X-factor by being there. He does things that no other players can do. I would think with the ban, being out of football he'll have a little bit of a point to prove. He doesn't drink, he obviously looks after himself, so you can take a punt on a two-year deal.

"I would review it. I certainly wouldn’t turn my nose up at it. I would really consider it. Why would you not? When you look at what we have in midfield, Pogba coming into that would instantly improve things."
