Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has picked his country to be one of the favourites for the T20 World cup 2021 considering that they have experience of the conditions in UAE. The T20 World cup fever has started with a lot of experts and cricketers around the world picking the favourites for the title.
The big tournament had to be shifted to UAE after the increasing Covid-19 cases in India. Also, the remaining games of the IPL which were suspended will be taking place in UAE prior to the T20 World cup. Pakistan has beaten West Indies in a four-match T20I series 1-0 after three games getting washed out and they are looking formidable.
Imad Wasim Feels Pakistan Has Enough Skillful Players
Imad Wasim mentioned that UAE will act as a home ground to Pakistan as they have been playing their home games for the last decade in UAE. The left-arm spinner added that Pakistan has enough skill to take them close to the title and reckoned that the series against New Zealand and England will be key to their preparations.
“UAE’s conditions will suit as it is like a home ground for us, having played there for a long period of time. This is why we are also considered as one of the favorites for the tournament. We have skillful players who can take us deep in the championship so we will try to give our 100 percent on the field,”
“We have two or three good series before that [T20 World Cup] and focused on winning that so that we head into the World Cup with rhythm and confidence,” said Imad Wasim
Imad Wasim Opines On Losing Contract
Imad Wasim expressed his disappointment over losing the central contract with Pakistan and mentioned the difficulties he had to face through the period. But he was determined to make a strong comeback through good performances in the domestic games.
“Losing the central contract was disappointing but ups and downs, with or without reason, are part and parcel of life. It was a difficult period for me and my family but the only way out of it is to perform well on the field and that is what I’m focused on doing,” he added.
Imad Wasim was part of the winning campaign in 2017 for Pakistan in the Champions Trophy and he can still make it to the T20 Worldcup squad.
