India U17 World Cup Preparation: Estoril U17 4-1 India U17 - Blue Tigers' colts fall prey to Canaries

The Uttarakhand lad had caught the attention of Luis Norton de Matos soon after the Portuguese took charge of the Indian national U-17 team..

Luis Norton de Matos and the lads, currently on an exposure visit to Europe in order to prepare for the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup in India, have been beaten 4-1 by Estoril U17 team.

The Young Cubs have so far faced three U-17 sides in Portugal. The junior side first locked horns with Belenenses U-17 side which ended on a 2-2 score-line.

Three days later, the Indian colts faced Benfica at the Seixal Stadium which too ended in a 2-2 result where Jitendra and Shahajahan were the goal scorers for India in the 79th minute and 85th minute respectively.

On Monday, Norton's lads took on Estoril in a practice match at the Jamor Stadium in Lisbon as they faced their first loss of the trip. Estoril struck four goals to comfortably seal a win over the Indians.

The hosts struck an early goal when Montero cut past the Indian defence to register the opening goal in the 8th minute. In response, the Colts attempted attacking on the counter, testing Estoril's defensive forces.

But three minutes past the half-hour mark, Velez struck home the second goal for his side which meant the score at the half-time whistle read 2-0 in favour of the Canaries.

The second half witnessed three goals- two from Estoril and one consolation goal from the Indian boys. First, Bernardo stuck in the 55th minute to register the third goal for Estoril. Later, India pulled a goal back through Rahim Ali in the 78th minute when he slotted in a cross from Rahul, but Estoril put an end to the game when Andrade’s effort found the back of the net in the 88th minute.
