India vs England 2021, 3rd Test Weather Forecast and Pitch Report
India and England will square up against each other in the third Test at Headingley Cricket Ground, starting from 25th August 2021. India have a great hold of the Test series, having won the second Test by 151 runs. They currently lead the five-match Test series 1-0.
After putting in to bat first, India started exceptionally well, thanks to a 126-run opening partnership between Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. Both the players made sure they leave the good balls outside the off-stump and only hit the ball to the boundaries which are there to be hit. Rohit Sharma hit 11 fours and 1 six en-route to his 83-run knock of 145 balls.
KL Rahul, on the other hand, went onto score a century and thereby etched his name in the Lord’s Honour’s board. KL Rahul scored 129 runs off 250 balls, including 12 fours and 1 six.
Virat Kohli looked assured till the time he was at the crease. The fans, however, were once again left disappointed as he got out for 42 off 103 balls. Ravindra Jadeja too scored 40 runs off 120 balls as India scored 364 runs in the first innings.
Indian bowlers bowled at great lengths and exhibited a disciplined bowling display. Mohammed Siraj and Ishant Sharma ensured wickets at regular intervals, however, Joe Root held firm at one end. The England skipper kept sending all the bad balls to the boundaries. He stayed unbeaten till the very end of the innings, scoring 180 runs off 321 balls. Jonny Bairstow too played a handy 57-run knock as England posted 391 runs in the second innings.
India’s second innings didn’t see a similar start to the first innings as they lost their top three for 55 runs. Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara then led India’s recovery and put on a century-run stand for the fourth wicket. Rahane scored 57, while Pujara amassed 23. The duo, however, got out at the stroke of the fourth day’s play to hand England the advantage. Pant went early in the morning session of Day 5 as England looked to wrap things quickly.
However, what followed thereafter took everyone by surprise. Jasprit Bumrah and M Shami added 89 runs for the ninth wicket to India’s lead past the 250-run mark. India eventually set a 271-run target for England to chase. England, in reply, were bundled out for just 120 runs as India won the game by a big margin of 151 runs.

Weather Forecast shows a chance of precipitation on days 3, 4, and 5. The weather on days 1 and 2 will be partly warm and humid. Nevertheless, the match is excepted to be ideal for a good game of cricket. The average temperature will vary between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius.
The pitch at Headingley Cricket Ground remains ideal for fast bowlers. The turf offers great help to fast bowlers and both teams would be happy to take advantage of that. With overcast conditions and plenty of grass on the surface, one could expect the seamers to enjoy a great outing in the third Test.
This also means that India are going to persist with the four seamers namely Jasprit Bumrah, M Shami, Ishant Sharma, and M Siraj. Also, Ravi Ashwin might continue to warm the benches as Jadeja is likely to retain his position in the eleven.
The average first and second innings scores at Headingley Cricket Ground are 307 and 209. The average third and fourth innings score are 290 and 166. The highest total posted here is 653 for 4 by Australia against England in the fourth Test in 1993.
