Cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra thinks there is no way for Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav to make the cut in the Indian team for the fourth Test at Kennington Oval.

Suryakumar and Prithvi Shaw were added to India’s squad after Shubman Gill and all-rounder Washington Sundar suffered from different injuries.

After India lost the Headingley Test to England by an innings and 76 runs, former Indian batsman Dilip Vengsarkar suggested that the Indian team should include Suryakumar as their sixth batsman in the fourth Test.

However, Chopra has a different opinion than Vengsarkar as he feels that it is hard to replace the Mumbai batsman with the current top six batters of the Indian batting order.

“Suryakumar Yadav – no, not going to happen. I am a little biased towards him, I like him but you will play him in place of whom? Will you play a sixth batsman?” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

“You will not touch anyone who is playing – Rohit, Rahul, Pujara, Kohli, Rahane and Rishabh Pant – all these six are going to play. If this top six remains, there is no place,” he added.

Suryakumar Yadav started with a six in his international career

Suryakumar Yadav has impressed with his batting brilliance not only in IPL and India A tours but also made an impact in the national team as he started his T20I career with a six off the first ball against England speedster Jofra Archer with an incredible reverse-ramp shot. He also went ahead to make a fifty in that match.

The five-match Test series is currently locked at 1-1 and the fourth Test will begin on September 2 in London.
