India vs England 2021: Jasprit Bumrah Set To Become Fastest Indian Paceman To Bag 100 Test Scalps
The prominent Team India pacer — Jasprit Bumrah is just five wickets away to bag a chance of becoming the fastest Indian fast bowler to clinch 100 wickets in Test cricket.
Pertinently, it’s the former Indian skipper and veteran all-rounder — Kapil Dev, who managed to achieve this landmark.
The veteran Indian cricketer Dev has bagged 100 wickets in 25 Tests to etch his name in the record books.
Meanwhile, the Gujarat-born star bowler, Bumrah, has a chance to achieve this much-awaited milestone during the third Test at Leeds after leading the five-match series against England 1-0.
So far, in the ongoing series against Joe Root-led England, Bumrah managed to pick 12 wickets besides delivering with the bat by scoring an unbeaten 34 in the second innings of Lord’s Test.
Bumrah alongside Mohammed Shami frustrated English bowlers much to the delight of Indian fans as the latter managed to score a gutsy fifty.
Pertinently, Bumrah played a significant role in India’s 151-run win at iconic Lord’s by clinching three scalps in the second innings of the second Test.
Jasprit Bumrah starred in Nottingham Test:
In the Nottingham Test, Bumrah bowled remarkably well by picking nine wickets in the match which includes a fifer in the second innings; however, the Test ended in a draw after rain washed out the final day’s play at Trent Bridge.
Bumrah, who has done outstandingly well in the traditional format, has so far bagged 95 wickets in 22 Tests.
The right-arm pacer Bumrah, who has a rapid rise in the international circuit, maintained an incredible bowling average of 22.62 which also helped India to achieve the best results in the red-ball format.
If Bumrah managed to pick a couple of wickets in Leeds, he will go past Venkatesh Prasad and Manoj Prabhakar.
Prasad has bagged 96 Test wickets in 33 Tests, whereas, Prabhakar picked 96 scalps in 39 Tests.
It becomes important to mention that Bumrah has bagged 59 wickets in 50 T20Is which also makes him the second-highest wicket-taker in the shortest version of the game only after star leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who has 63 scalps to his name in 49 T2oIs.

Meanwhile, the third Test between England and India will commence from August 25 at Headingley.
The speedster in Bumrah is seen as an X-factor in the ongoing riveting Test series.
Besides, the other fast bowlers who’re in the Indian squad include Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav. The trio had bagged more than 100 wickets with Sharma leading the current bowlers in the squad.
The lanky pacer has 311 wickets to his name in 103 Tests after making his debut in 2007.
