The Indian Cricket Team would be brimming with confidence after registering a 157-run win against England in the fourth Test of the five-match Test series. The two teams will take on each other in the final Test of the series at Emirates Old Trafford, starting 10th September.

India currently lead 2-1 in the series. With one game remaining in the series, the Men in Blue have a golden chance of winning a Test series against England in their own backyard. Virat Kohli and Co. would be eager to replicate a similar performance in the final Test and claim the series.

India won the fourth Test by a big margin of 157 runs. They didn’t start their innings too well, though, after being put in to bat first. India lost their top three batsmen for just 39 runs. Ravindra Jadeja got a promotion in the batting order but he didn’t make the most of the opportunity.

Virat Kohli resurrected the innings with a half-century, however, the likes of Rahane (9) and Pant (14) went back to the hut without making a significant contribution. At 127 for 7, India were all at sea. However, a brilliant half-century from Shardul Thakur helped India reach close to 200 runs at the end of the first innings.

India needed early wickets to get back into the game and Jasprit Bumrah gave India just that. He removed both English openers in only his second over. Malan and Joe Root added 46 runs before Umesh Yadav bowled a peach of a delivery to send Joe Root back into the hut.

He then removed Malan and Overton to give India an upper hand. Despite those wickets, England managed to finish their innings at 290, thanks to some valuable knocks from Ollie Pope (81 of 159), Jonny Bairstow (37 off 77), and Chris Woakes (50 off 66). England took a 99-run lead in the first innings.

The 99-run deficit had India in trouble but the visiting openers were up to the task. They played with the utmost caution, stitching an 83-run partnership. KL Rahul was the first one to depart, however, Rohit Sharma looked resolute at the other end.

The Hitman scored a first overseas century and it came when it mattered the most. He went on to score 127 runs off 256 balls, including 14 fours and 1 six. Besides, Pujara, Rishabh Pant, and Shardul Thakur got half-centuries. India ended up posting a mammoth 466-run total.

Spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian bowling unit bundled England out for just 210 runs and won the game by 157 runs. Umesh Yadav claimed three wickets, while Bumrah, Shardul, and Jadeja picked two wickets each.
