Australia women’s team captain Meg Lanning said that her team is looking forward to the challenge to play the Indian women’s team at home next month.

Indian women’s cricket team is scheduled to fly to Australia, where they will play 3 ODIs and as many T20Is and in the middle of the two white-ball series, they will play a pink-ball Test at WACA in Perth.

Currently, top Indian players like Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana are involved in England and Wales Cricket’s (ECB) inaugural Women’s Hundred tournament in the United Kingdom.

Lanning feels the Indian team will be a match-hardened because of the exposure they have got playing in the Hundred and her team will have to be at their best to play in a top-class contest.

“It is going to be a great challenge coming up against India we have played some really good games over the last few years and they have shown they have got some world-class players and are certainly competitive, so we are really excited about the opportunity we have got to play all three formats,” Lanning told in a press conference, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

“They have been playing a little bit of cricket in the UK recently so they will certainly be match-hardened and we have to be on our game right from the start of the series which is something we are looking to do,” she added.

It will be a challenge for us to do things quickly: Meg Lanning

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the pattern of the game, with many new norms coming into play and the schedule has also been cut short by several boards. Meg Lanning said her team will have the challenge to adapt quickly and not get confused.

“Looks really exciting to play the Test match at the WACA is a great prospect. We understand in these times things change really quickly and we have had a little bit a go in the last 10 months and I think we have done a really good job so far. But it’s another challenge this season for everybody to make sure we are able to do things quickly and not get too flustered,” Meg Lanning said.

The tour starts on September 19 with the first ODI to be played at the North Sydney Oval in Sydney.
