Former India international center-back Anwar Ali suffered an myocardial ischemic attack on Tuesday after East Bengal's morning training session and is now in a stable condition.
Ali complained of feeling uneasy during and after the training session of the Kolkatan giants and had his vitals checked by the club's physios and the doctors. However, it was while heading back home with his teammate Gurwinder Singh that Anwar really felt the discomfort and was rushed to the Medica Superspeciality Hospital in Kolkata.
An angiogram test was conducted, which confirmed that it was indeed a case of an ischemic attack, and Anwar has been in care since. The doctors have made it clear that he needs to stay under their observation for another day before being discharged on Wednesday.
"Yes it is true that he suffered an ischemic attack after training today. He's a fit lad, he just needs to make sure that he takes the medicines regularly and he'll be alright in no time," reassured Shantiranjan Dasgupta, top official of East Bengal.
