Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman said that Virat Kohli and his team will forever treasure the victory against England in the second Test at Lord’s.

On Monday, India registered a 151-run victory over England after the visitors folded up Joe Root and his side’s innings on 120 in the second innings.

Earlier in the day, the game looked in England’s bag after they dismissed the dangerous Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma, but the Indian tail-enders clawed their side’s way back into the game with a meticulous fight.

VVS Laxman feels India won’t forget the Lord’s victory and will treasure it for a lifetime.

“I think they (Indian team) will never ever forget this win. They will treasure this win for their lifetime, keeping in mind the situation the team was in at the start of the fifth day, overly depending on Rishabh Pant and the tail to follow,” Laxman told ESPNCricinfo.

Virat Kohli displayed an energetic mode during England’s innings and the skipper was also seen involving in banters with his counterparts and VVS Laxman noted that Kohli’s intensity is always on top.

“And I just felt the energy and the enthusiasm you saw in each and every over was amazing. It was infectious. The captain led the way. The intensity is always there when Virat Kohli is on the field captaining,” Laxman said.

India take a 1-0 lead in the five-match Test series

Bumrah and Shami dismissed each England opener in their respective first over before Ishant Sharma trapped the duo of Haseeb Hameed and Jonny Bairstow before the wicket to reduce England to 67/4 at the stroke of lunch.

Skipper Joe Root once again top-scored with 33 and with his presence at the crease, it seemed like England would easily force a draw, but soon after the lunch, the batsman poked Bumrah’s back-of-length delivery to Kohli at first slip.

After Root’s departure, England’s collapse was scripted by the Indian bowlers as the visitors take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
